Honorable mentions:
â–ºCode Geass: Just felt like Death Note with robots to me and no backstory or character depth to C.C. made me frustrated.
â–ºGhost in the Shell: Love the dialogue…that’s about it. For such a complex, philosophical anime, there wasn’t enough balance with simplicity. Maybe I’m not used to animes like it.
â–ºBlue Exorcist: I think the meme “That Escalated Quickly” describes it perfectly. SAO is a close match but compensated for it. Love the action and characters in BE, but it could have had more to it.
â–ºHigurashi: The suspense is amazing, the character depth awesome, but the same setting, same people, etc. just made me weary of it. Haven’t watched the second season yet, but by the end of the first I was ready for something else.
